Two foreign nationals have been indicted in connection with a string of high profile “swatting” incidents. When senior officials of the U.S. Government were hit, the FBI was under serious pressure to find out who was responsible. The two they named have apparently been doing it on a regular basis since 2020 and getting away with it cold.

Foreign nationals indicted

The Just Us Department announced on Wednesday, August 28 that they have indicted two foreign nationals in “a swatting conspiracy.

Dozens of individuals were targeted, “including senior U.S. government officials.” Locating, arresting and deporting them is an entirely different story.

the U.S. attorney’s office issued a press release noting that “Thomasz Szabo of Romania and Nemanja Radovanovic of Serbia were each charged with one count of conspiracy, 29 counts of threats and false information about explosives and four counts of transmitting threats in interstate and foreign commerce.

Szabo is 26 and Radovanovic listed as 21-years-old. They apparently have major technical skills and way too much time on their hands.

Both men “were involved in a swatting conspiracy that began in December 2020 and continued through January 2024.” They were really good at it from all the practice.

The duo allegedly carried out the campaign by reporting false emergencies to provoke a police response at the victims’ homes.” Because they’re living in foreign countries, there’s nothing much we can do about it.

Locating, arresting and deporting them is an entirely different story.

101 victims listed

According to the indictment, the two foreign nationals “targeted 40 private victims and 61 government officials.” It was the honchos which attracted the heat onto their trail. “The officials included members of Congress, Cabinet-level executive branch officials, senior officials of federal law enforcement agencies and state officials.

The Federal Bureau of Instigation is looking bad because they’re powerless to stop it. In an attempt to show that they can investigate someone other than Donald Trump and his allies, they decided to work serious overtime until they could show the public some sort of a result.

Along with swatting their favorite politicians, the foreign agitators also made a few “bomb threats against four businesses, four religious institutions and one university.

It’s amazing how dangerous a telephone can be. Especially when you have the technical skills to re-route your line to appear to be inside the United States when you dial 911 from Eastern Europe.

Federal Prosecutor Matthew Graves threw a snit about it when he announced charges. “Swatting is not a victimless prank,” he scolds. “It endangers real people, wastes precious police resources, and inflicts significant emotional trauma.

He promises that even though there’s nothing they can do to drag the foreign suspects in to face justice, they’ll do it for as long as it takes. “We will use every tool at our disposal to find the perpetrators and hold them accountable, no matter where they might be.
