The jury didn’t believe that Nevada civil servant Robert Telles was framed. He hasn’t been sentenced yet but he’s already in jail. After the verdict came in it’s clear he won’t be going anywhere for a long time. The 47-year-old former Clark County public administrator was found guilty of murder on Wednesday. He was on trial for the brutal stabbing of Las Vegas Review-Journal journalist Jeff German.

Jury says he’s guilty

The jury made it official on August 28, finding Robert Telles guilty of murder. He stabbed investigative journalist Jeff German to death, in his driveway, back in 2022.

He’s been held since his arrest and they’ll be hanging on to him for a while. Telles is looking at a probable life sentence.

It took two days of deliberation before the jury notified the court they had a decision. German had written “critical stories” about Telles’ work as Clark County administrator of estates.

The Democrat tried to convince the world he was framed. He had a hard time making that stand up in court because his DNA was found under the victim’s fingernails.

After two weeks listening to all the facts and arguments presented by both sides, the 12 jury members kicked it around for four hours on Monday before knocking off for the night.

On Tuesday, they got down to serious work and spent roughly six hours coming to a unanimous conclusion. Telles did it.

He was on trial for the brutal stabbing of Las Vegas Review-Journal journalist Jeff German.

Stabbed seven times

In September of 2022, Jeff German “was stabbed seven times in the neck and torso outside his Nevada home.” The 69-year-old veteran reporter “spent more than four decades covering the city and corruption.” Telles was part of that corruption.

According to German’s articles, Telles exhibited “hostile behavior” at work and had “an affair with a subordinate.” The jury discussed his claims of being set up and dismissed them.

At the time he was brutally murdered, German had another article in the can and ready to publish about Telles. The most dramatic moment of his trial was when the prosecution came up with a text message Telles thought he had erased.

His wife still had her copy of it on her Apple watch. The jury perked up when the defendant was forced to read what she texted him.

About the same time Mr. German was being stabbed to death, Telles’ wife was texting to ask “where are you?” Obviously, he wasn’t where he was supposed to be.

Another thing the jury thought sealed the case shut was the SUV Telles drives. One the same make, model, and color was caught on surveillance camera nearby, being driven by the killer in a floppy straw hat. Cops found pieces of a straw hat at Telles’ house.
