On Tuesday, July 30, Israel Defense Forces announced that they eliminated a top Hezbollah military commander, Fuad Shukr. He’s the one allegedly responsible for killing a dozen Druze kids at a soccer field in Golan Heights. The Israelis’ “targeted airstrike” in Beirut was done totally in retaliation for that. Al Jazeera briefly reported that the attempt failed but pulled it back down. They didn’t issue a correction so it could be true. They simply weren’t supposed to tell anyone.
Hezbollah hit in Beirut
While Hezbollah has been helping Hamas around the fringes since the big October 7 attack on Israel, this is the first time IDF struck the capitol of Lebanon.
Joe Biden previously warned IDF against “targeting Beirut, stressing that could lead to uncontrollable escalation.” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his security council don’t care what Joe thinks.
This particular airstrike “is the most significant Israeli operation against Hezbollah since the assassination of its top military commander Imad Mughniyeh in Syria by the Israeli Mossad in 2008.”

While they were at it, they allegedly took out Ismail Hanieh, head of Hamas’ political bureau. Somebody did. He was killed in Iran’s capitol of Tehran. Iran is reportedly sponsoring both radical Palestinian factions.
Shukr, also known as al-Hajj Mohsin, was “a senior adviser on military affairs to Lebanon’s Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah and is in charge of all Hezbollah’s military operations.” He led the faction’s fighting against Israel since October 8.
Not only that, he was “entrusted with Hezbollah’s most advanced weapons, in particular the precision missiles, cruise missiles, coastal missiles, long-range rockets and unmanned aerial vehicles.” That means he would have been in charge of the fancy new EMP gear.
Wanted by FBI
The FBI has wanted Shakr for years. He’s accused of involvement “in the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut in 1983, which killed 241 U.S. service members.”
Unless Al Jazeera was right, the bureau can take his name off the most wanted list. Axios notes “Hezbollah has not yet commented publicly or confirmed Shukr was killed.”
The Lebanese Health Ministry did verify that “one person was killed in the strike and 70 people were wounded.” According to a “senior Israeli official,” they “notified their U.S. counterparts several minutes before the strike and briefed them on the target of the attack.”

Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari with the IDF relates that they were “in constant communication with the U.S. military central command on Tuesday before and after the strike.” They were probably watching live as the Hezbollah commander was vaporized.
The Israelis can’t stop gloating about it. “We attacked the Hezbollah commander responsible for the murder of the children in Majdal Shams and for the killing of many other Israelis.” The goat humpers really crossed a red line this time. “Israel doesn’t want war but is fully prepared for it.”
The acting Prime Minister of Lebanon, Najib Mikatti “condemned the strike,” while Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib offered advice. He “hopes Hezbollah’s response will be proportionate and that the killing would stop.” Any response from Hezbollah at this point could be deadly for everyone. They started it and should stop right here. Otherwise, the whole world will be piling on.
