Iran has reportedly supplied EMP technology to Hezbollah. Word comes to us the long way around on this one. The story started out with Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida. They broke the news recently that “Iran has supplied Hezbollah and other Iranian proxy forces with electromagnetic ordinance, which can disable communication systems and shut down radars.” Jerusalem Post is a reputable outlet. They sat down and interviewed Rotem Mey-Tal, CEO of Asgard Systems, to pick his brain about what that means for the rest of us. He has the credentials. His company develops “military technology for the defense industry.”
EMP packs a jolt
Electromagnetic Pulse or EMP for short is some of the most cutting edge technology there is.
Thanks to Iran, it’s apparently in the hands of barbaric goat humpers who’s entire culture revolves around millennia of tribal warfare, supplemented by explosives.
The same Hezbollah terrorists who bombed a soccer field in Golan Heights on Saturday has their hands on high tech EMP weapons. Sort of like the device used in Ocean’s 11. “Describing electromagnetic ordnance is like talking about something no one has ever seen, but everyone understands exists and is present in reality.”

Various models for various purposes are off the drawing boards and in clandestine use globally. You can even build one yourself using a single use flash camera. This one’s intended as an RFID zapper but a larger coil can produce stronger fields. Just be careful where you use it and leave your wallet somewhere safe.
“Imagine lightning striking the building you live in, not hitting a lightning rod or antenna, but the entire building, causing all the electrical panels, water heaters, water and electrical systems, household appliances, computers, television systems, and even life-saving medical systems to stop working.”
Electronic devices hit with EMP fry themselves from the inside out.

Power grid a target
The defense expert thinks that the EMP devices Hezbollah got their hands on would have a use targeting things like military bases, “strategic facilities, desalination systems, and the Israeli power grid.”
Nobody has ever actually used one yet so it’s hard to be sure. There’s a good chance that the equipment will be mounted on a drone. That will make it more of a hybrid type weapon. Part electric wave and part like normal weapons.
“The physics are the same in any way they choose to use such capability, but I suspect the model will likely be in the form of a low-flying UAV.”
“Much like the Iranian-Houthi attack of the upgraded Samad 3 UAV, which struck near the US Embassy in Tel Aviv last weekend, only instead of a kinetic warhead with gunpowder, the front of the UAV can be armed with an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) activation mechanism.”
The terrorists can activate the device while the drone’s in flight, then it can blast the EMP field out “upon contact with the target.” That’s just speculation, though, he admits. Having this sort of technology on the battlefield is not a good thing. “In my personal opinion, not only is this an escalation on the map of potential threats, but it should also be regarded as close to a non-conventional weapon threat. Just as no sovereign country would tolerate a non-conventional weapon threat, the same applies here.”
Last week’s CrowdStrike meltdown showed the world that “in 2024, electronic processors manage and operate all the vital systems.” He’s worried about State of Israel infrastructure but it applies to all of us. As CrowdStrike underscored, “medical systems, security and military applications” are all vulnerable. EMP weapons are serious. Hezbollah having them is scary.
