One of the original Fox News anchors has passed away.

Uma Pemmaraju, an Indian American journalist, died on Monday.

No cause of death has been announced.

She was 64 years old.

Sad Day

Suzanne Scott, CEO of Fox Media, made the announcement.

She stated, “We are deeply saddened by the death of Uma Pemmaraju, who was one of FOX News Channel’s founding anchors and was on the air the day we launched.

“Uma was an incredibly talented journalist as well as a warm and lovely person, best known for her kindness to everyone she worked with. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her entire family.”

Pemmaraju made a name for herself reporting on the disenfranchised in this country.

Her reporting won her several awards throughout her career.

She was born in India, but moved to Texas and earned a degree in political science at Trinity University.

She started in local media, eventually moving over to Fox News when the network was launched.

She did leave for Bloomberg News at one point, but she eventually returned home and sat back behind the anchor desk at Fox News as a fill-in anchor on several shows.

Pemmaraju considered herself a “conduit to help” people.

She stated, “I don’t want to sound too sentimental.

“But that’s what I’m about.

“I want to use my celebrity to help people, to help bring about something that needs to be done.”

She was an amazing journalist… rest in peace.
