The FBI finally got what it wanted.
A couple has pleaded guilty to charges of stealing Ashley Biden’s diary.
We have to assume that Robert Kurlander, 58, and Aimee Harris, 40, got a sweetheart deal so the DOJ could implicate James O’Keefe and Project Veritas.
Get Him!
O’Keefe and his investigative journalism project have been a thorn in the side of Democrats for quite some time.
He has faced own dozens of legal challenges before, always winning.
In fact, his offices were raided several months ago in relation to this diary.
If you recall, O’Keefe got his hands on the diary but never printed it.
The couple mentioned above claims they stole the diary after Ashley left it behind at a friend’s home.
The couple stayed there at a later date, found the diary, then put it up for auction.
Project Veritas allegedly paid $40,000 all-in, but it was later found that the diary was stolen.
O’Keefe willingly turned the diary over to authorities and never used it, although other publications did print some pretty disturbing passages from the diary.
Here is the kicker… even if the diary was stolen and purchased by O’Keefe, he has First Amendment protections as long as PV did not conspire in the theft.
Before people start asking how and why, this is how journalists are protected when they print leaked documents from the government… something that has been tried and tested over and over again in our history.
On Thursday, the New York Times confirmed that Kurlander is cooperating and rolling over on O’Keefe, which means this becomes a he said, she said case.
The one thing that O’Keefe has on his side is that he never printed the diary.
On the other hand, if O’Keefe was encouraging these two to steal more items for him to use in a story and there is proof, well, all bets could be off.
This is a big fish for the FBI, so the blowback on this will be enormous if O’Keefe gets off on his own or if we find out the FBI was manipulating evidence to frame him.
We will keep an eye on this and update as more information becomes available.
