After her two-week suspension, Whoopi Goldberg is back on “The View;” however, this time rather than being humiliated that she was sent to a two-week suspension by her network, she even went back to work with a big smile on her face.
The comic came under attack for stating that the Holocaust was “not regarding race,” since she claimed that the Nazis and Jews were white. She asserted that man’s inhumanity to man was the real root cause of what took place.
Goldberg tweeted an apology; however, after that she appeared to increase down on her statements during an appearance on Stephen Colbert’s program. This made her network ABC suspend her due to the mounting stress from the general public.
The ABC Information head of state Kim Godwin that even though Goldberg had apologized, the suspension was issued to give her time to reflect on her remarks.
After her 2 weeks suspension, one resource informed the New York Post that Goldberg is feeling better than ever before because ratings for the daytime talk show dropped during her absence.
The expert source added that Goldberg was “peacocking” around the set due to the fact the ratings had dipped while she was out.
According to the report, during the full week Goldberg was not permitted on “The View,” the panel-style talk program dropped 283,000 customers, causing a season-low for total visitors in essential demographics.
In Goldberg’s first week back, “The View” added 113,000 customers week-to-week, or 2.3 million customers, which noted the most significant week-to-week gain for any daytime broadcast series. It wasn’t sufficient to obtain viewership back to pre-suspension levels, but it was still a large boost for network bigs to notice.
One expert stated that the suspension may have put Goldberg in a much better position long-term due to the drop in ratings.
She has, in essence, become untouchable.
This just shows that Whoopi’s suspension showed the rankings depend upon her, it will take a lot more egregious comments for her to be discharged forever.
