One would think it would be safe to teach middle-school children.

That would generally be the case, until they attack like a pack of wild dogs.

That is what a Texas teacher faced last week when a group of kids chased him down and broke his arm.

On the Run

Michael Shott teaches physics and is an assistant baseball coach.

While the details of what set the students off have not been made public, Shott’s mother tried to describe what happened.

She stated, “The reason it happened to him was because he was doing his job.

“He stopped the kids.

“Well, there was only one kid at first.

“The reason the others came back is because they didn’t like him stopping them.”

While not making it clear what he stopped, this was the result…

School officials stated, “Our campuses must be the safest places in our community for students, staff and visitors.

“We will not tolerate anyone compromising the safe environment of our campuses, and will address violations to the greatest extent possible.”

On the condition of Shott, his mother stated, “He’s doing fine. He’s at home.

“He has a broken arm, but the kids said that he’s doing what he’s always done and he’s fine.”

Perhaps it is time we start to get more officers in schools.

This is unacceptable, and hopefully, these “children” will be held accountable for their actions.
