I think we can all agree that Ukraine has done an amazing job of fighting off the Russian invasion.
All things being equal, this war probably would have been over if Ukraine had the quality of the equipment that Russia has for its troops.
One of the most glaring shortages Ukraine has is air support, and sadly, that problem is going to continue.
Backing Out
Biden was supposed to send MI-17 Helicopters to Ukraine as part of the $750 million military aid package.
Along with the air defense system Ukraine recently received from Slovakia, this would have gone a long way to level the playing field.
On Wednesday, Biden decided the helicopters were no longer part of the aid package.
I am going to go out on a limb here and say that Biden backed off sending the helicopters because he was afraid of how Putin would perceive that type of aid.
If that is the case, Biden is once again allowing Putin to dictate how he operates rather than the other way around.
It is weak… and it is pathetic.
Update 4.13.2022 4:56 CDT: On Tuesday afternoon, the Pentagon revised the aid package to include 11 Mi-17 helicopters.
