Donald Trump got news today that brought joy to his camp as well as tears in the eyes of just about every liberal in the country.
Honestly, there were probably a few conservatives that shed a tear or two as well.
Facebook has decided to reinstate Trump, giving him access to social media other than Truth Social for the campaign.
He’s Back
I am honestly not sure if having social media is a good thing or a bad thing for Donald Trump.
His social media seemed to be where he created the most outrage and turned off the most people.
I know his base likes the goofy nicknames and the little temper tantrums that he throws on social, but this is what costs him a significant amount of his 2016 support.
This is going to be a rebirth of sorts for Trump, and I hope he takes advantage of it.
After Trump got the news, he posted to Truth Social, “FACEBOOK, which has lost Billions of Dollars in value since ‘deplatforming’ your favorite President, me, has just announced that they are reinstating my account.
“Such a thing should never again happen to a sitting President, or anybody else who is not deserving of retribution!”
Nick Clegg, president of global affairs at Meta, stated, “To assess whether the serious risk to public safety that existed in January 2021 has sufficiently receded, we have evaluated the current environment according to our Crisis Policy Protocol, which included looking at the conduct of the US 2022 midterm elections, and expert assessments on the current security environment.
“Our determination is that the risk has sufficiently receded, and that we should therefore adhere to the two-year timeline we set out.
“As such, we will be reinstating Mr. Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts in the coming weeks.
“However, we are doing so with new guardrails in place to deter repeat offenses.”
In my dream world, Trump uses the platform to talk about his agenda, not slap himself on the back as the greatest human being to have ever walked the planet.
Trump is going to have to do something he really struggled with doing, being positive.
People are looking for real solutions right now, not how he got robbed or how wonderful he is, or the careers he claims to have made… solutions.
If Trump goes back to doing what he did before, people will tune him out rather quickly.
