I quit,” editorials editor Mariel Garza told the Los Angeles Times. It was reported on Wednesday that the outspoken bastion of progressive thought resigned in a snit “after the newspaper’s owner blocked the editorial board’s plans to endorse Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris for president.” He didn’t block the board, he backed it. Instead, they plan to do a side-by-side comparison of both candidates’ policies to let their readers decide who they should vote for. Kamala doesn’t stand a chance.

Times won’t endorse

The Los Angeles Times has always been a publication Democrats could count on for total support. Until now. They used to like Kamala, Trump’s campaign points out.

The state’s largest newspaper,” they note, “declined to endorse the Democratic ticket after backing Harris in her previous races for U.S. Senate and state attorney general.” The paper is hemorrhaging money and backing Kamala would only make things worse.

Progressive Democrats can’t seem to get their head around the concept of fiscal responsibility. To get their way, they throw tantrums. Mariel Garza got the word and instantly threw herself on the floor, kicking and screaming.

She didn’t get her way so security escorted her out the door. She can collect her belongings once they’re all boxed up, she’s been told by the Times.

Garza ran straight to the Columbia Journalism Review to deliver an interview. She resigned because, in her opinion, the Times was choosing to stay silent and unbiased when they should be leaning on the scale with all their journalistic weight.

Especially now, when there’s a huge chance that Donald Trump might actually be allowed to Make America Great Again.

The editorial board won’t endorse Kamala Harris for President.

Not okay with silence

I am resigning,” Garza declared, “because I want to make it clear that I am not okay with us being silent.” Especially not now. “In dangerous times, honest people need to stand up. This is how I’m standing up.

The street takeover sideshows, armed convenience store lootings and zombies roaming the sidewalks aren’t dangerous to her. Law and order is.

LA Times owner Patrick Soon-Shiong posted a while later on social media, without mentioning Garza or her tantrum. What he did note was that “the board was asked to do a factual analysis of the policies of Harris and Republican former President Donald Trump during their time at the White House.

Along with that, “the board was asked to provide (its) understanding of the policies and plans enunciated by the candidates during this campaign and its potential effect on the nation in the next four years.” No wonder Garza was so upset.

In this way, with this clear and non-partisan information side-by-side, our readers could decide who would be worthy of being president for the next four years.” It’s all over for Kamala. That statement instead of a solid endorsement was the kiss of death.

The owner insists that it was the board, not him who made the decision. They “chose to remain silent and I accepted their decision.” The LA Times has been struggling to stay in business after falling “well short of its digital subscriber goals.” They need a “revenue boost to sustain the newsroom and its digital operations.” They won’t survive with Kamala and the Democrats running things.
