A 62-year-old Texas engineer was stabbed to death on a park bench in Round Rock last week, and the man charged in the killing had been arrested repeatedly in the same county over the previous decade.

Shop NowAndrew James Wimsatt, who held a doctorate and worked for the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, was attacked around 11 a.m. on September 7, minutes after visiting his mother at a nearby nursing home.
Benedict Chinedu Ogbodiegwu, 26, has been charged with murder and theft.
Surveillance video captured the attack.
A probable cause affidavit states that the assailant “grabbed him from behind and repeatedly drove a knife into his neck,” then “wiped the blood off on his shirt and walked out of view.”
Court records cited in the report show Ogbodiegwu had a Williamson County record dating to at least 2017 for theft, with two further arrests in 2026 involving theft and carrying fake identification. He had been jailed from January to April and was released again on June 9.
He is being held on $1 million bond and is next due in court on October 8.
Wimsatt was known to hosts at Fox News, where Kat Timpf described him as “a fan who became a friend” and Greg Gutfeld called him unfailingly supportive.
