The Republican Party just took a loss at the hands of the Supreme Court it likely never envisioned.
Two redistricting cases were sent to the Supreme Court for review.
In both cases, the court refused the petition.
Sorry…
When the new census report came out, Republicans surely thought they had an edge.
When the first wave of new congressional maps were drawn, the usual gerrymandering took place by both sides.
That, however, has not turned out well for Republicans.
In case after case where GOP maps were challenged, they have lost.
When Democrat maps have been challenged, the GOP has largely lost those cases as well.
The latest defeats came in cases regarding North Carolina and Pennsylvania maps.
With the court declining to take on either case, Democrats get yet another boost.
We still don’t expect these losses to allow Democrats to hold the House, but it will surely impact how big of a majority Republicans will be able to take after the 2022 election cycle has been concluded.
