The Stockbridge City Council has impeached Mayor Jayden Williams following a misconduct investigation that examined explicit text messages with an 18-year-old high school student and thousands of dollars in personal spending on city accounts.

Williams, 23, took office in January 2026 as the youngest mayor in Georgia’s history, according to Fox News, and was removed roughly ten months into the job.
The investigation documented sexually suggestive messages and an exchange of nude photographs with the student.
It also found more than $4,000 in personal charges on a city purchasing card, among them a $322 Father’s Day dinner, haircuts, clothing and movie outings, and more than $2,600 in personal trips charged to a city fuel card.
Williams disputed the characterization of the spending, saying he had not used the card intentionally for personal expenses and that he reimbursed the city.
Of the messages, he told the hearing: “It is not memorable nor abnormal for somebody my age.”
He faces no criminal charges. Fox News reported that police determined no criminal violations had occurred because the student was legally an adult under Georgia law, and referred the matter instead for administrative review over what were described as policy and ethical concerns.
In a statement reported by Fox News, Williams said: “The individual was 18 years old at the time of our communication, meaning we were both adults. I met this individual on November 30, 2025, and our online communication occurred before I was sworn into office in January 2026.”
The investigation also found that Williams had used a city vehicle for personal purposes, according to Fox News.
The council’s action was administrative, not criminal. The record before it rested on the investigation’s documentation of the messages and of the purchasing-card and fuel-card spending, not on any charge brought by prosecutors.
Williams’s removal ends a tenure that began as a statewide milestone.
At 23 he was the youngest person to hold a mayor’s office in Georgia, Fox News reported, and he had served since being sworn in at the start of the year.
Neither outlet reported his party affiliation, and the seat is a municipal office in Henry County rather than a partisan state or federal one.
