Well, it has finally happened.
Democrats are getting what they have wanted all along… an official DOJ investigation into Donald Trump.
That was one of two purposes of the January 6 Select Committee.
Actually, if it drags on, this investigation could also serve a second purpose, which is to prevent Donald Trump from running for office again.
Here We Go…
According to breaking reports, the DOJ is now looking into Trump’s actions and correspondence regarding Trump’s efforts to have the 2020 election further investigated before certification.
On Tuesday, the Washington Post reported that the DOJ has convened a grand jury on the matter.
So far, the investigation seems to be focused on exactly what efforts Trump made directly to try to overturn the election.
The primary focus of the investigation had been John Eastman and Rudy Giuliani, both of whom worked in a legal capacity for Trump.
Merrick Garland, on possibly prosecuting Trump, stated, “We intend to hold everyone, anyone who was criminally responsible for the events surrounding January 6, for any attempt to interfere with the lawful transfer of power from one administration to another, accountable.
“That’s what we do.”
He should have said he does whatever needs to be done to protect Biden and prevent Trump from running again in 2024.
