The senate seat in Pennsylvania is going to be a war this year.

The Democrat Party has rallied behind John Fetterman, the current Lt. Governor of the state.

However, Fetterman suffered a stroke, per a statement from his campaign on Sunday.

Gamechanger

The Republican primary race is still wide open.

There are at least two leading candidates backed by Trump and his supporters, so this could be anyone’s game.

While I would suspect the party will rally behind whoever comes out on top, that is not a certainty, especially if it is Dr. Oz, as he has a very liberal past that he will have to explain to hardcore conservatives.

Fetterman, however, is very popular in the state and seemingly the overall leader of the race.

His going down with a stroke is a game-changer.

In a statement on Sunday, Fetterman said, “On Friday, I wasn’t feeling well, so I went to the hospital to get checked out.

“I didn’t want to go – I didn’t think I had to – but Gisele insisted, and as usual, she was right.

“I hadn’t been feeling well, but was so focused on the campaign that I ignored the signs and just kept going. On Friday it finally caught up with me.

“I had a stroke that was caused by a clot from my heart being in an A-fib rhythm for too long. Fortunately, Gisele spotted the symptoms and got me to the hospital within minutes.

“The amazing doctors here were able to quickly and completely remove the clot, reversing the stroke, they got my heart under control as well.

“It’s a good reminder to listen to your body and be aware of the signs.”

While he says he is feeling “much better” and on the road to a complete recovery, this could create some doubt in voters.

They want to know their candidate will be there for all six years, not replaced by some wild card.

This is especially true if Republicans get back in the governor’s mansion in the next election, which is a strong possibility when you consider how unhappy people are with the way Democrats handled the COVID pandemic.
