Never mind the people committing crimes on a daily basis, it seems that these days police officers have to worry about having a problem with someone who’s just there to annoy them.
The last several years, fueled by an irrational liberal hatred of police officers, your local police force stands the chance of having insults hurled at them like they are a visiting football team.
It’s sickening because, at the end of the day, they are just people who are being paid to do a job that isn’t easy. If it was easy, everyone in the world would be a police officer.
That’s why these brave men and women need to be afforded every ounce of respect owed to them.
Not saying to throw rose petals on the ground whenever you see a police officer walking somewhere, but at the very least don’t be a complete and total jerk to them.
Like if you see a police officer sitting down to eat on a break during a shift at a restaurant, leave them alone. They get little enough time as it is to decompress from an extremely stressful job.
The last thing a cop needs during that hour is for you to come up and in that hour think you are going to make them question their career choices because you are mad at something another cop did in another state.
Which brings me to an incident that happened in Louisiana. Some members of the Slidell Police Department sat down at a local Outback Steakhouse to grab something to eat.
Outback is a pretty good place, as far as chain joints go. Sure you have little service issues here and there based on who is working on a given day. For the most part, though, the place is always great.
So these cops sat down, ordered, and ate. They were waiting for the check when the waitresses walked up to them and handed them a slip of paper that they assumed was going to be the check.
When they looked down at the paper, they saw what looked like the check but there was a note written on it.
The note thanked them for their service to the community and said that the entire meal was on the house.
What a wonderful gesture to these brave police officers. Not saying you gotta start giving cops food for free now, but it certainly was a nice way of saying thank you.
If only more businesses were like this.
