The ATF Director has been a position that has become highly politicized for almost a decade now.

There has not been a Senate-confirmed Director since Obama was in office.

That changed this week after Biden’s second nominee passed the Senate, but only because two Republicans crossed the line.

Get Ready for It…

Biden’s first ATF nominee had no chance, and most of this thought his second stab at it would get defeated as well.

However, Steve Dettelbach managed to convince two Republican senators that he would not violate the Second Amendment.

Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) and Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) both sided with Dems to give them just enough votes to squeeze Dettelbach through.

Collins has long been a question mark and Dettelbach hails from Portman’s home state.

Democrats were ecstatic, but gun rights groups were already predicting that bad things are on the horizon.

Gun Owners of America, prior to the vote, stated, “Steve Dettelbach is an anti-gun partisan with no knowledge of firearms and a zeal for infringing on the Second Amendment … President Biden’s second ATF nominee is also wholly unqualified to lead this agency given his lack of firearm knowledge.

“Dettelbach admitted on the record to never owning a firearm.

“How can a director lead an agency when he has no experience in the field?”

The problem with Democrats is that they are always looking to take the right to self-defense away from law-abiding citizens and do very little to ensure laws already on the books are enforced to punish the bad guys.

I would suspect both Collins and Portman will soon regret giving Dettelbach the thumbs up.
