New York City’s brand new Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker is already being investigated for having improper ties to China. It’s only the latest addition to a growing collection of scandals swirling around Democrat Mayor Eric Adams. A whole bunch of people are calling on Adams to step aside. He keeps insisting he didn’t break any laws. He needs to go for apparently surrounded himself with people who don’t mind a little back-room dealing.
New Fire Commissioner
When Robert Tucker’s predecessor, Laura Kavanagh, was appointed FDNY Fire Commissioner, she was an obvious DEI hire. Instantly, she had all the chiefs directly in her chain of command in an uproar. Those who weren’t demoted quit. Those who were demoted quit, too.
She spent her tenure trying to put out fires in her administrative office while major blazes were improperly handled. She was eventually dragged out the door and Tucker got selected for the job. He’s only been doing it for a month and his improper connections to China are already being exposed.
He’s not the only big New York Democrat in trouble for ties with China. Former aide to governors Mario Cuomo and Kathy Hochul, Linda Sun, just got arrested, a month after her home was raided. Her husband is also charged with crimes connected to Chinese schemes. Fire Commissioner Tucker likewise isn’t the only big chief in trouble, either. NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban resigned last week.
He’s linked with his brother to some yet undisclosed shady dealings being investigated by the FBI. Besides that, Caban also has close ties to Gui’An Lin. So close that Lin was Caban’s “right hand.” It seems that Tucker introduced them.
While Lin hasn’t been charged with anything yet, “Lin’s ties come under scrutiny at a time of heightened awareness of Chinese influence in New York, after the arrest of Linda Sun, a former aide to Gov. Kathy Hochul earlier this month and after a Chinese NYPD cop was fired for allegedly spying for China.”
The fire commissioner knew him when he worked “at an elite golf course in Scarsdale — where Tucker owns a sprawling $7 million mansion.” Working in the dining room.
Debt to the Triad
Lin was hired on the police force as a non-uniform employee and rose through the ranks spectacularly fast. “Lin’s rise is all the more remarkable as most of his experience is in hospitality, working between 2004 and 2018 at Fenway Golf Club — a place where Tucker, 54, has sponsored charitable events.”
This “low-rung guy” worked his way up to assistant manager of the golf club’s dining room. Thanks to the new fire commissioner, he’s running the police force until they find a replacement for his disgraced boss.
It’s amazing he passed the background checks to get that far up the ladder. He admits arriving in America “on a ship carrying illegal immigrants.”
He owed heavy coyote fees “and was forced to pay $40,000 to the Chinese mafia, according to a talk he gave in Westchester which was reported by a local newsletter in February 2014.” He may have found a way to work his debt off to the Triad in other ways. Thanks to Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker.
Tucker doesn’t know a whole lot about fire fighting. Before he was appointed to run the FDNY, he was “head of a private security firm where one of the clients was a billionaire who once admitted to feds he worked for Chinese intelligence.” That doesn’t look good when you connect it to the other breadcrumbs falling out of City Hall. He was in that gig when he endorsed an “email putting forward ex-golf club hospitality worker Lin Gui’an for a top position in the New York Police Department, which he eventually got.”
At the time, Tucker “counted controversial Chinese billionaire, Miles Guo as a client.” He was “convicted in a billion-dollar fraud scheme in Manhattan federal court in July” and faces “decades in jail when sentenced in November.” The best way for Adams to put out the fire in his own office is resign.
