A new FBI report is out, and I will guarantee that liberals and the media are going to go bonkers.
The report breaks down the use of force by police and how many deaths were caused in these cases.
However, if you dig into the report, it offers far worse context about rising crime and society today than it does against the police.
The Numbers
The number I expect the liberal media to look at is the 33 percent of cases where force was used resulting in someone’s death.
That is about all they have on their side, however.
What they will not tell you is that the majority of those cases were brought about by an infraction where the suspect got aggressive, including traffic stops and welfare checks.
They also probably do not want to talk about how 73 officers were killed in the line of duty last year, which is a 20-year-high.
Nor will they talk about the cause of the rise in aggression against police officers.
The report states, “In use-of-force incidents, officers most often encountered individuals who failed to comply with verbal commands or other types of passive resistance.
“Other types of resistance encountered included displaying a weapon at an officer or another individual, attempting to escape or flee custody, using a firearm against an officer or another individual, or resisting being handcuffed or arrested.”
Betsy Brantner Smith, a spokesperson for the National Police Association, explained, “One of the reasons that we’re seeing this huge uptick in officer ambushes, unprovoked attacks, is because there is this pervasive false information in the media, by activists, by some politicians, that police officers are a danger to the community.”
What is the bottom line? Well, there are two bottom lines, actually.
First, do not break the law and you do not have to worry about it.
Second, if you do get caught, simply comply and you do not have to worry about becoming a statistic in next year’s report.
