Well, that did not take long.
Republicans passed their first piece of legislation and Joe Biden already has his veto pen out.
In reality, he will not have to use it because the bill will probably never even see the Senate floor.
Not Happening
With their newfound power, House Republicans decided to waste all of our time on a useless piece of legislation that will never get past the Senate.
Even if it did, the bill to repeal funding for the 87,000 IRS agents would be vetoed by Joe Biden.
After the GOP passed the bill in the House, the White House stated, “Far from protecting middle-class families or small businesses, H.R. 23 protects wealthy tax cheats at the expense of honest, middle-class taxpayers.
“With their first economic legislation of the new Congress, House Republicans are making clear that their top economic priority is to allow the rich and multi-billion dollar corporations to skip out on their taxes, while making life harder for ordinary, middle-class families that pay the taxes they owe.
“That’s their agenda; not lowering costs or cutting taxes for hardworking Americans – as President Biden has consistently advocated.”
It continued, “If the President were presented with H.R. 23 – or any other bill that enables the wealthiest Americans and largest corporations to cheat on their taxes, while honest and hard-working Americans are left to pay the tab – he would veto it.”
Which is my point… all they are doing is giving Democrats more fodder to use against them.
Now, I know they are not going to be able to get anything passed over the next two years, but if you are going to waste the time and money to put legislation together, create a bill that will address the current problems we have in this country.
Force Biden to show his hand on energy independence and supply chain issues.
Put real solutions out there and make the American people see that Biden is not willing to cross party lines, even it will help American people, simply because he does not want Republicans to get any credit.
So far, all McCarthy has done is waste a stack of paper, time, and money.
