We are starting to get a much better picture of how the 2024 election will play out if Trump decides to run for president.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the overwhelming favorite in the Republican Party if Trump decides not to run, is hitting the campaign trail.
He is not pushing his campaign.
Instead, he is trying to get everyone to unite and rally behind all the candidates that Trump supported in the primary.
Show of Support
This is a big move by DeSantis because some of the candidates that Trump has supported are fringe at best.
The major factor in who Trump has been supporting has largely been decided by the idea of them supporting him having won the 2020 election.
This, in many eyes, has made the candidates unelectable in a general election.
I say this is a big move by DeSantis because he now clearly supporting Trump as well as linking himself to these candidates.
It also, at least to me, shows that DeSantis would likely defer to Trump if he decides to run for office in 2024.
Charlie Kirk, founder and president of Turning Point Action, stated, “Gov. DeSantis is America’s governor and one of the most popular leaders in America.
“He has become the model for a new conservative movement that is willing to stand on principle and to actually fight on behalf of the values of his voters.”
He added, “DeSantis has the unique ability to unite conservatives around these candidates, and Turning Point Action is honored to host and organize these rallies on their behalf.”
This will definitely impact DeSantis, but it could go either way for him.
It will surely draw in more Trump supporters but he may be alienating himself from moderate conservatives.
Definitely something to keep an eye on.
