Shop NowMiller will step into the role on Monday, officially replacing Susie Wiles, Fox News reports.
Wiles was not dismissed; she resigned. A current White House official told Fox News Digital the decision was “very amicable” and that Wiles handed in her resignation Thursday night.
Trump said Wiles will be moving to his political operation. In announcing the change, he thanked her for her service and wrote that she “has done a great job!”
Wiles issued her own statement shortly after Trump’s announcement, saying that day was her last as chief of staff.
The shake-up comes after Republicans lost control of both the House and the Senate in the midterm elections.
Fox News described the results as a major blow to President Trump, reporting that the war with Iran and persistent affordability concerns loomed large over the elections as voters weighed the economic toll of the conflict.
Fox News senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy reported on the announcement on “America Reports.” Miller formally takes over the chief of staff’s office at the start of next week.
