One of my favorite cable TV shows was “Boardwalk Empire.”
To anyone that is up on the history of Atlantic City and the true age of gangsters, this was an amazing show.
The star of the series, Steve Buscemi, was recently attacked in New York City, and this weekend was the first time that he has been seen since the beat down.
The Big Bruise
Buscemi played crooked Atlantic City pol Enoch “Nucky” Thompson, and his portrayal and the background work by staff were spot on.
When it comes to time-period pieces, this was about as authentic as it gets.
One would think that fame would get Buscemi some clout on the streets of the Big Apple, but that is clearly not the case.
New York City is going to have to change its nickname if these brutal attacks continue to take place, especially against famous people.
About 99% of the attacks against average Joe’s are never reported, but you better believe that every star that receives so much as a scratch is going to make headlines.
That was the case with Buscemi, who was recently the subject of a random attack.
Last week, it was reported that Buscemi was just taking a walk through Kips Bay when he was brutally beaten.
He was taken to a local hospital for treatment, emerging with a badly bruised and swollen face.
Buscemi, 66, was spotted this weekend for the first time since the beatdown.
He still had a black eye, and noticeable bruising on his cheek, but that did not stop him from getting back to work and filming a commercial in Soho on Saturday.
Buscemi is now the second actor from that series to be attacked in NYC.
At the end of March, Michael Stuhlbarg, who playing Arnold Rothstein on the show, was jogging when he was hit in the head with a rock.
