A candidate for the Washington state House was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence last month, and newly released police video shows her praying and crying in the back of a patrol car.

Shop NowKrista Perez, who is running in the 29th Legislative District, Position 1, was arrested in Tacoma shortly after midnight on August 11.
She is charged with DUI with a refusal enhancement, which applies when a driver declines a breath test.
Tacoma police said Perez’s 2019 Chevrolet Silverado struck a parked car on South G Street, setting off a chain reaction that damaged five vehicles in total.
Body-camera and patrol-car footage released by the department shows Perez telling officers she had “just had some wine” and rating her own sobriety a four out of ten.
She declined standardized field sobriety tests. Later footage from inside the patrol car records her saying, “Help me, God. Help me… Holy Spirit, help me, God.”
Perez finished first in the primary and faces incumbent Democrat Melanie Morgan in November.
`Washington law does not bar a person charged with DUI from serving in the legislature.
She has not been convicted. Fox News reported no statement from Perez or her campaign and gave no update on the status of the case.
