Have you noticed something recently?
Donald Trump has not been on Fox News, in person, since April 13.
That appearance was during a “Hannity” show, but he has not been seen or heard from since.
Rumors are starting to fly that this was mandated by Fox News Chairman Rupert Murdoch, and his son, company CEO Lachlan Murdoch.
No Taste for Trump
The New York Post published a piece that shredded Trump in early July.
I noted it at the time, primarily since it was largely based on hearsay testimony from the January 6 hearings.
The Wall Street Journal published a similar piece at the same time.
This is noteworthy because both publications are in Murdoch’s stable.
This has not gone unnoticed by Trump, as he recently blasted Fox News on Truth Social, accusing the network of having gone over to the “dark side.”
Fox seems to be pushing Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida.
After recent man-on-the-street interviews were published, all supporting DeSantis, former Fox News anchor Eric Bolling stated, “I spent 11 years at Fox, and I know nothing pretaped hits a Fox screen that hasn’t been signed off on and sanctioned at the very top levels of management — especially when it has to do with a presidential election.”
Bolling now works for Newsmax, which is where a lot of Trump supporters are flocking.
I cannot bring myself to watch the network while it employs Dick Morris, who is just a sensationalistic idiot making outlandish predictions in the hopes of getting one of them right.
I have noticed, however, the absence of Trump, especially among his top allies on the network.
My guess is that Murdoch thought people like Hannity were getting too close to Trump, especially after the fallout from the Cuomo scandal at CNN.
If Murdoch has given such an order, it is hard to imagine it staying in place during the primary for the 2024 election.
Perhaps it is just a respite, trying to keep everyone’s nose clean leading up to the big primary race for 2024.
Time will tell.
