D.C. law has allowed noncitizen residents to vote in local elections since a 2023 change to the city’s election code, a point Judicial Watch states in its own release.
Federal law bars noncitizens from voting in federal elections. The figures came from the D.C. Board of Elections in response to a records request from Judicial Watch and the D.C. Republican Party.
According to the records, 510 of the 578 were registered Democrats, four were registered Republicans, 55 were listed with the National Progressives of America, and seven with the Statehood Green Party.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said the voting “may be a violation of federal law” and urged the Justice Department to investigate.
PJ Media argues the noncitizens may have had a say in the race for D.C.’s delegate to the House, which was on the June ballot. That point is disputed: local outlet The 51st reported before the primary that a noncitizen voter it profiled would have no option on her ballot to vote for the delegate.
My stance… no illegal immigrant should be voting on any seat that is federal in nature. If they want to poison local offices, that is on them and the people who live in that state or city. But federal elections should ONLY be American citizens, period.
