Baseball fans around the country woke to some rather shocking news today.
Former MLB player Jeremy Giambi passed away on Wednesday.
He was only 47 years old.
Shocking Death
According to reports, Giambi died at his parents’ home in California.
No cause of death has been released at this point.
The death took everyone by surprise, as there had been no reported health problems of the former MLB player.
While not quite the household name of his older brother Jason, Giambi still had a large fan base.
This may have been due to his portrayal in Brad Pitt’s “Money Ball.”
The A’s brought Giambi to the team during a massive makeover of philosophy on how baseball executives measured talent.
Be it his attitude or just the need for a general shakeup, he was eventually traded away from the A’s to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Giambi also played for the Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals during his time in the big league.
We will update this report when more news is available regarding his death.
