Look folks, I will be the first person to say that the United States has problems. That being said, I will also be the first person to say that amidst those same problems, we are still the greatest country in the world.
That’s why it frazzles me to no end when I hear celebrities that have all the money in the world, and that could insulate themselves from whatever problems they have with the country whenever they want by the way, start talking about how they are going to leave the United States. To give up their citizenship.
I have a neighbor who came to this country legally when he was in college. He and his now wife have worked for years to become citizens of our great nation. I watched almost the entire process unfold before me.
When he invited me to his naturalization ceremony, it was the most pride I have ever seen in a person for anything.
Why would someone want to throw that away? Well, maybe we should ask Billie Joe Armstrong. Oh, you forgot who that was?
Now, I know you might be hearing a publication mentioning that name and saying to yourself “Hello there time traveler. What news do you have of the mid-1990s,” and you would be right to think it.
Yes, the lead singer of Green Day has given up his U.S. citizenship. The very thing that countless people from other countries strive for. He just gave it up. And he didn’t even have the guts to make the announcement here.
At a concert in London recently (you know, the people we declared independence from), Ol’ Billie stopped dead in the middle of a performance to proclaim to the crowd that he was taking his U.S. citizenship and throwing it right in the garbage.
He called our country miserable, among other hateful missives that I cannot fathom a millionaire several times over having the nerve to say. I mean, I cannot possibly think of the last time this guy went to a grocery store and had to worry about which peanut butter to buy.
This all reeks of virtue signaling of the highest order. Instead of taking his millions and maybe investing it in some way to help his fellow man that he thinks our nation has supposedly failed…he’s taking his ball and going home.
Hell, not just taking it and going home. He’s taking the ball, pulling out a knife so all the air goes out of it. Then he’s setting the same ball on fire.
It just goes to show you with liberals that all they want to do is sit and snipe, and never offer any actual solutions. When presented with the chance to help with a solution, they are the first ones to run screaming somewhere else.
