A body found in a landfill has finally been identified.
Seventeen years ago, authorities found a decaying body that had been placed in a Boston landfill.
Shockingly, it took them until now to solve what appears to be a murder.
The body has been identified as Leon Brown, who was 41 at the time of his death.
Now Solve the Murder
Bristol District Attorney Tom Quinn announced the long-time mystery being solved.
“I am very pleased that we were able to identify Leon Brown, and that his previously unmarked grave will no longer just be an unidentified plot number in the cemetery.
“We are now focused on investigating the circumstances of his suspicious death.”
Police were able to solve the murder by uploading Brown’s DNA to a national database, then sitting back waiting for a hit.
One of the reasons it took so long to solve the murder was that Brown was not initially reported missing.
Additionally, he wore braces on his legs due to having MS, but they were not with the body when it was found.
