The fallout for Peter Arredondo has finally started.

The Uvalde Schools Police Chief has widely been held responsible for the utter failure of police to prevent the horrific shooting that took place in Uvalde earlier this year.

Arredondo was sworn into city council not long after the shooting, to the amazement of many, but he has now resigned that position as we await more fallout from the mass shooting.

Just the Beginning

Arredondo had been elected to office on May 7.

On May 31, only a week after the tragic shooting, he was sworn into his city council position, but the ceremony was kept private.

There was widespread outrage over the report, as many believed it was a slap in the face to victims’ families to have this man placed on the city council after his utter failure to handle the scene during the school shooting.

To this day, he refuses to admit that he was the scene commander, but the shooting itself is still under investigation by the Texas Department of Safety.

Arredondo, on his resignation, stated, “After much consideration, I regret to inform those who voted for me that I have decided to step down as a member of the city council for District 3.

“The mayor, the city council, and the city staff must continue to move forward without distractions. I feel this is the best decision for Uvalde.”

Even though he was sworn in on May 31, Arredondo had yet to attend a single meeting.

He did, however, ask for a leave of absence, which was declined, as the sentiment was clear that the community wanted him to resign his position.

One grieving relative stated, “After choosing to wait an hour for backup, instead of ordering officers to take down the shooter, he’s proven he cannot do his job.”

The man is a complete disgrace, and he needs to be held responsible for his horrific failures well beyond simply losing his job.
