After Booting the Unvaccinated, DOD Says HIV is OK

The Pentagon just announced a decision that makes no sense after what happened with the COVID vaccine.

Previously, if you had HIV, you could not serve.

The Pentagon is now reversing that decision, allowing those who have tested positive for HIV to serve as long as they are asymptomatic.

Really, Joe?

Now, I know the progress on HIV has been significant, but that is not what I am talking about here.

The military has and continues to kick members out who will not take the COVID vaccine, regardless of whether they have the virus or not.

We are talking about a virus that has all but run out of steam at this point.

We also starting to see treatments available that can knock out COVID, gone forever, unlike HIV.

The DOD has been under intense pressure for a few years over the previous policy, with gay-rights activists saying that the DOD had declared war on HIV-positive soldiers.

Well, I guess the military has just risen to a new level of woke… you get HIV, you can serve. You don’t take the first-gen vaccine for the flu on steroids, and you are out.

The new policy reads, “Individuals who have been identified as HIV-positive, are asymptomatic, and who have a clinically confirmed undetectable viral load… will have no restrictions applied to their deployability or to their ability to commission while a service member solely on the basis of their HIV-positive status.

“Nor will such individuals be discharged or separated solely on the basis of their HIV-positive status.”

After the policy was announced, a DOD spokesperson stated,  “In view of significant advances in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), Secretary Austin has directed updates to the Department’s policies with respect to HIV-positive personnel who are serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

“Just as all Service members must receive required vaccinations to be considered militarily ready, HIV-positive Service members will need to adhere to a treatment regimen that renders them asymptomatic and with a clinically confirmed undetectable viral load to be covered by the updated guidance.”

I honestly have no words for this one other than being completely baffled at the inconsistency of this administration.
