As delegates arrived for the DNC in Chicago, Hamas supporting protesters broke through the security fence. Democracy is all about mob rule but the security team prefers to act like Republicans. Local police brought their riot gear along. They did their best to maintain law and order despite being far outnumbered by progressive rioters.
DNC riots challenge security
Security “remains a top priority” at the DNC. That little breach of the security fence outside United Center on Monday was only a minor incursion, quickly repelled.
Just as delegates were arriving on August 19, a mob of agitators used the sheer weight of their numbers to smash through the steel mesh barricades.
Police in full riot gear poured in to contain the overzealous antisemites and weren’t afraid to use their batons with gusto. They were well justified in using force because it was Hamas forces who started the violence.
Black Americans Realizing The Democratic National Convention Is Chaos Compared To The RNC
“There's a very huge difference between how the DNC is operating right now versus the RNC, like, a month ago”

“We had officers who had objects thrown at them,” Superintendent Larry Snelling relates. The DNC throws a much wilder party than the RNC. “We had people who sprayed our officers with pepper spray.”
Chicago cops were more than ready for the professional rioters attracted to the Democrat National Committee convention from out-of-state. Officers, Snelling boasts, “stayed controlled and they handled the situation.”
At least four of the Hamas affiliates were arrested over the DNC fence breach. In the background, “thousands” more “had marched from Union Park to demand action on a number of issues, including the Israel-Hamas War.”
Mostly peaceful protest
Superintendent Snelling made a point to emphasize that most of the DNC protesters behaved. The ones who didn’t were singled out for appropriate justice in court.
He didn’t want to associate the fencing breach “with the entirety of that march because there were people who exercised their First Amendment rights, did not commit any crimes and they marched away from here.” That’s all fine and dandy and what America is all about.
“Our focus for the march was having a march on the DNC and we did that,” Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression spokesperson Faayani Aboma Mijana agrees. “We marched within the sight and sound of the United Center. We protested the genocide.” Mijana also made sure to distance from the troublemakers. “We don’t control everyone.”

That doesn’t mean they don’t approve of what happened. “But at the same time, we are talking about a fence when there is a genocide happening.” It’s not the damaged fence that’s a big deal, it’s what could have happened to one of the delegates inside the supposedly secure perimeter.
Republicans were allowed to carry guns inside the outer security perimeter, just not inside the building. Nobody at the RNC feared for their safety and there weren’t any security breaches or howling mobs of Iran sponsored “useful idiots.”
After the DNC delegates were gone for the night, Chicago PD “added an extra layer of those steel cages, more concrete K-rails/jersey barriers and screwed in steel brackets to doubly protect the perimeter and prevent barriers from being lifted off their hinges.” By dawn, “crews also installed a camera high up on the corner streetlight overlooking where this breach happened.“
