Shop NowOn Fox News’ “Sunday Night in America,” Comer said the winery, eStCru, sold investors empty barrels as “wine to be aged,” and that it had, “according to the press,” closed “because of fraud.”
Fox News reports the winery closed in April amid congressional scrutiny of Omar’s finances and notes the revelation is not new.
The report cites no court or agency finding of fraud. Lawyers for Mynett and his business partner have told the Minnesota Reformer that any suggestion they deliberately defrauded investors “would be false and defamatory.”
Comer raised the winery in a February letter, noting that Omar’s stake was listed at $15,001 to $50,000 on her 2023 disclosure and $1,000,001 to $5,000,000 the following year.
Omar has attributed the discrepancy to an accounting error.
The Oversight Committee referred the matter to the House Ethics Committee, which has not yet taken it up.
The claims come as Omar faces a separate federal probe into her citizenship, which she and her allies call a partisan attack. The article contains no response from Omar on the winery.
