Our last hope for justice in the Durham probe is getting water poured all over it.
On Friday, U.S. District Judge Anthony Trenga acquitted Russian national Igor Danchenko on one of the five charges of lying to the FBI.
Durham also closed his case, so closing arguments will begin on Monday.
Dismissed
From what I have seen thus far, the judge is giving Danchenko the benefit of the doubt in what he understood the FBI agents were trying to ask him.
That is not exactly good news for Durham in terms of getting a conviction.
Judge Trenga stated, “are not to be loosely construed,” and that the “burden is on the questioner to pin the witness down.”
After Durham finished presenting his case, the defense declined to make a case.
Clearly, Danchenko’s attorneys believe Durham was not able to prove his case.
On Monday, closing arguments will take place, then we just have to await the verdict in the case.
If this case comes back without a guilty verdict, it will be an absolutely crushing blow to conservatives.
Not only that, but it will also end up feeding Democrats ammunition to use against Durham that the entire investigation was a political move from the outset.
In reality, Durham had little chance of success with the judges who ended up getting assigned these cases.
