I am the type of person who likes to go on vacation as much as I possibly can, mostly because I can do most of what I do for a living from pretty much anywhere in the world.
All I need is some kind of internet connection and electricity and I can get things done. It’s why I spent several months out of the year on jaunts through our great nation, stopping at places for a week or so at a time.
I like to joke to my wife that we have shopped at more grocery stores than anyone else we know.
The point of what I am trying to say is that there are so many awesome places in the United States that you could go on vacation almost every six months for a week to some cool spot in the United States and never have to worry about running out of awesome places to see.
For example, before it got cold my wife and I went on a trip through Michigan to just look at the leaves change colors. It’s something I never really appreciated as a child, but look forward to it every time I see it.
This begs the question, with all the awesome places in our country to visit why would anyone want to go on vacation out of the country? Added to that, why do some people go on vacation to places that are known to be dangerous spots?
Recently the State Department has issued a warning urging any Americans that are in the Caribbean nation of Haiti to leave the country as soon as humanly possible.
The reason that was given is that there have been incidents of mass unrest and violence in the island nation.
One of them was when a series of armed gangs stormed several jails and prisons, freeing all of the inmates and beating the guards within an inch of their lives.
It’s estimated that nearly four thousand violent inmates have been released by these armed gangs. Now, you might be sitting here reading this thinking that as long as you stay on the grounds of the resort you will be fine.
What if one of these armed gangs decides to go after the resort because that’s where all the money happens to be?
I mean, if you are thinking about going on a vacation out of the country remember this: all you are doing is paying extra money for the privilege of eating lunch somewhere different than where you normally eat.
It’s time we try to normalize more people going on vacations within the confines of the United States. It’s a great way for starters to pump money into an economy that Joe Biden has totally wrecked.
