The original declaration was made in January 2020 during the Trump administration.
Since then, we have a vaccine, treatments, and the country is completely reopened.
The latest extension was set to expire on Friday, but Joe and company have other plans.
On the surface, Biden is pretending this is about giving extra medical benefits access to Americans, but that is far from the only reason.
For instance, during a public emergency, certain funds become accessible, so expect these slush funds to get reloaded and spent by Biden.
Biden is also looking to declare a public health emergency as part of his plan to extend abortion rights that would be protected federally.
