For the second time, Joe Biden has failed to get his so-called bipartisan border bill past the Senate.
Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) presented the bill again, but it failed.
The vote was 50-43 against the legislation, with even two of its authors voting against the bill.
Political Move
Senators Lankford (R-OK) and Sinema (I-AZ) both voted against their bill, and both were livid that Schumer did this to try to score political points for Biden.
This legislation is useless, as it does nothing more than codify the policies that Biden has had in place for the last three years.
There are some aspects of the bill that the GOP would likely try to implement, but overall, this legislation would allow as many as 180,000 migrants per month before any controls were forced into play, and that is unacceptable.
After the bill was floored, Sinema stated, “Today, the Senate is proving what many Americans already think about Congress: that Senators come here for political games, not to deliver results.”
Schumer, while presenting the bill on the floor, stated, “We all know the situation at the border is unacceptable and demands attention from Congress.
“Democrats believe that, Republicans have been saying it, and that’s why three months ago we sat down with them to write a strong and necessary and bipartisan border security bill.”
In reality, this was nothing more than providing Joe Biden with fodder to use against Republicans, and he jumped all over it.
No sooner had the bill failed when Biden said that the Republican Party was not serious about fixing the border and this problem was on them, not his administration.
My guess is that the American people will not buy that, knowing full well the border situation only got out of control after Joe Biden took office, with this administration doing literally nothing to slow the flood over the border since Biden took his oath of office.
