Before I really get into the meat of what we’re here to talk about today, I want to make a statement that might shock some of you.
I’m not totally against electric vehicles. Now that you have been thoroughly shocked, let me clarify. I’m not against them in certain doses, I own one. It’s not what you’re thinking.
It’s one of those electric bikes that you can pedal and run off a small battery at the same time. I use it primarily for short distances, less than a mile or so, and when I am on vacation.
It’s great because you get the exercise that you need while at the same time, you are able to use the motor to take a bit of a rest if you need it while you are still getting to where you are going.
Notice the key thing of what I said there, I use it for short distances. I use it if I am getting a handful of things from the grocery store. I don’t use it if I am trying to move cross country or drive from Michigan to Florida.
Not saying it won’t be there one day, but the technology isn’t quite there yet.
I mean sure, you can put all the charging stations out there that you want but if it takes a million years to charge and you have to do it every 200 miles you’re going to have a lot of people opting out of the experience until they can come up with a solution that makes sense. They just aren’t there yet.
A good number of car companies are starting to figure out that they need to pump the brakes on this push for electric cars. One of them is the luxury car manufacturer Mercedez.
I’ve never owned one of their cars, and probably never will, but even as someone who likes things a little simpler, I can see why people buy them.
Recently they announced that they are doing to be pulling back sharply on the production of electric cars. This is a stark contrast to what Mercedes and many other manufacturers had been saying about trying to get to all-electric by the end of the decade.
The point is people, the electric cars simply aren’t there yet for a variety of reasons.
If you look at most electric items like your generators and electric bikes, they are supposed to be substitutions and not out-and-out replacements.
Biden has tried to make them replacements and they are failing at that. Thankfully the car companies are starting to see that before it is too late and the government has to bail them out yet again.
