Was I surprised that Donald Trump was convicted on all accounts in the Trump hush-money case?
Not at all, but what surprised me was how blatantly corrupt Judge Merchan appears to be.
If you needed proof that that is an organized political hit job against Trump, just check out the sentencing date chosen by Merchan.
So Corrupt
After the guilty verdict came in, Judge Merchan announced that he would sentence Trump only four days before the Republican National Convention, where Trump will accept the nomination as the GOP’s presidential candidate.
Now, imagine if Merchan decides to send Trump to prison while also calling for Trump to report to prison immediately.
Trump was livid over the decision, stating, “This was a rigged, disgraceful trial. The real verdict is going to be November 5th by the people.”
He later added, “We couldn’t get a fair trial.
“It’s a sad day for New York and a sad day for the country.”
RNC Chairman Michael Whatley was also quite livid, stating, “Today’s verdict, handed down by a partisan and biased judge, is an indictment on the Democrats’ campaign to weaponize the judicial system to attack President Trump.
“The real verdict will take place on November 5 when Americans vote for a president they trust to bring down prices, secure the southern border, restore America’s leadership around the world and Make America Great Again.”
I think it would be utterly ridiculous for Merchan to issue a prison sentence for Trump, and it would be even more ridiculous if he required Trump to report to prison before his appeals process played out.
Would it surprise me if he did do that? With the way things have gone thus far, no, it would not surprise me at all.
