President Donald Trump was thrilled to be invited to Paris for the grand reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral. French President Emmanuel Macron personally asked him to attend the December 7 ceremony. Trump was glued to news coverage when the big blaze leveled the famous religious landmark. The former real estate developer is amazed to see the final result of an obviously intimidating reconstruction. After that, the national leaders plan to sit down and talk shop. Macron’s government happens to be on the brink of collapse and the last thing the French need is an economic war with America. Macron tangled with Trump in the past and learned it’s much better to deal than be deceptive or antagonistic.

Notre Dame Cathedral gala

President Trump related on social media how excited he is for a visit to Paris for the grand reopening gala of the freshly reconstructed Notre Dame Cathedral.

It’s not just a matter of grabbing a bag and hopping on Trump Force One. “Trump’s team has been in discussions for days with French President Emmanuel Macron’s office regarding the visit.

The French government made it a formal diplomatic invitation extended to an important head of state. He may not be sworn in yet but everyone knows he’s on the job already. Emmanuel Macron is going out of his way to acknowledge that. Trump, likewise, recognized the diplomatic courtesy while issuing a warm RSVP to the liberal leader.

President Emmanuel Macron has done a wonderful job ensuring that Notre Dame has been restored to its full level of glory, and even more so,” Trump posted Monday. “It will be a very special day for all!

Macron and Trump had a few tense disagreements in the past, whenever America First policies ran head-on into World Economic Forum agenda items. Neither of them lets business differences interfere with their friendship.

The media describes their relationship as a “bromance,” despite “at times appearing openly hostile toward one another.” They can put that aside at Notre Dame and simply enjoy the splendor of the moment.

Restored to its full level of glory.

Ready to work together

Macron made a point of being the first foreign leader to congratulate Trump on his victory. He was quick to assure the Republican that whatever Trump has on his mind can be worked out, as long as there’s a little room to maneuver on the finer points.

Ready to work together as we did for four years. With your convictions and mine. With respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity.” Notre Dame’s restoration celebration provides a nice, neutral excuse for a get together.

Trump was pleased with his invitation but would have found a way to be there on his own. Trump told his team he “has long held a fascination with Notre Dame.

Back in 2019, “Trump had watched footage of the fire burning while aboard Air Force One.” That night he posted, “so horrible to watch the massive fire.” He wondered if “flying water tankers could be used to put it out.

Trump and Macron won’t be the only heads of state on hand for the big celebration. “The reopening ceremony this weekend is expected to draw some 50 heads of state and government.” That has Paris’ Police Chief Laurent Nunez hopping around managing all the security concerns.

Word around the liberal media circuit says that Macron is also “planning to invite Trump and Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, who the president-elect has tapped for a role in his administration, to Paris for a summit on artificial intelligence in early February.” It’s going to be really interesting to see which of the other world leaders try to corner Trump for a quick conference in one of Notre Dame’s many convenient cloisters.
