No, this is not a defund the police movement.
This is the city of Uvalde holding the school district police responsible for the horrifying response to the school shooter earlier this year.
Apart from one officer who was terminated, the rest of the force has been suspended, we have to assume pending termination.
Cleaning House
The announcement came down on Friday from the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District that the entire force was being suspended.
As mentioned above, the lone exception was Officer Crimson Elizondo.
Elizondo is a former state trooper that was recently hired by Uvalde.
However, she was captured on bodycam footage saying, “If my son had been in there, I would not have been outside.
“I promise you that.”
She has been terminated.
Another officer, Ken Mueller, has put in his retirement papers.
Other officers are expected to temporarily fill the roles of the Uvalde officers.
