The Polk County Sheriff thinks Don Steven McDougal is a really interesting person, connected with the disappearance of an 11-year-old girl. The Livingston, Texas, family continues to hold out hope that Audrii Cunningham is alive and will be returned home soon. Things are looking pretty grim. Her “Hello Kitty” backpack was found by the dam at Lake Livingston.

Community searching for girl

The entire community is searching frantically for a missing 11-year-old girl. They’re hoping to find Audrii Cunningham and get her emergency aid, if she’s still alive. If not, they at least want to recover her remains.

On Thursday morning, February 15, she was supposed to board her bus for school, she didn’t. She did leave the house but not alone.

According to the most recent update available, “McDougal admitted to authorities to leaving the house with Audrii on the day she went missing.

Don Steven McDougal, age 42, “has been cooperating to some extent with investigators,” the sheriff’s office notes. The “friend of Audrii’s father” was “allowed to live in a trailer behind their house.” He was also allowed to take the girl “to school from time to time.

It’s not clear if her father knew he had a 2007 conviction record for “enticing a minor with intent” out of Brazoria County. He wasn’t required to register as a sex offender.

The Texas Department of Public Safety held a press conference on February 19 relating some new details about what they emphasize remains an ongoing search for a live girl.

Not answering everything

While McDougal admitted leaving the house with Audrii, he refuses to say if the girl actually went to the bus stop. They don’t say he’s pleading the fifth but it sure sounds like it. He may think he can talk his way out of trouble like they always try on TV.

McDougal was arrested on Saturday after confessing to assaulting a male following an argument.” That’s when cops started grilling him relentlessly about Audrii.

Another possibility exists which would explain why authorities are dangling a huge reward for information they can use fast. It would also explain why he isn’t being treated like typical kidnap and murder suspects. He may have sold or bartered the girl.

There “are also rumors circulating that McDougal may be affiliated with a Neo-Nazi group, Aryan Brotherhood, although this has not been confirmed.” The White female with blond hair and blue eyes would make terrific breeding stock, Aryan Brotherhood types drool.

With conflicting versions floating around, Sheriff’s office officials confirmed and clarified that “Audrii should have caught the school bus at her neighborhood bus stop. However, school officials reported to the Sheriff’s Office that the school bus did not pick Audrii up, nor did she report to school.

Her family reported the girl missing “after she didn’t return home from school. A multi-agency search ensued, including the Texas Rangers, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Livingston Police Department, the Texas State Guard and several local fire departments.” They’ve been tearing the neighborhood apart ever since.
