It would now appear that former Vice President Mike Pence has decided to go toe-to-toe with Donald Trump.
Pence is using a media narrative regarding recent comments by Trump regarding Putin and the Russian invasion to draw a line in the sand.
Based on these comments, I have to believe that Pence is seriously considering a run for office again.
No Room
Trump recently commented on the “genius” of the move by Putin to invade Ukraine under the guise of a peacekeeping force.
Now, if you heard the actual interview, it was Trump commenting on strategy, not actually slapping Putin on the back for going into Ukraine.
Of course, most outlets just latched onto that narrative and hammered Trump.
The former President has since blasted Putin for invading and has firmly denounced the move, clearly indicating where he stands.
Even so, Pence seems to be jumping on this to raise his profile.
The former VP stated, “There is no room in this party for apologists for Putin.
“There is only room for champions of freedom.”
Pence then took a shot at Trump for continuing to bring up the 2020 election rather than presenting a more forward-thinking approach.
He stated, “Elections are about the future.
“My fellow Republicans, we can only win if we are united around an optimistic vision for the future based on our highest values.
“We cannot win by fighting yesterday’s battles, or by re-litigating the past.”
I think that makes it official… Trump and Pence will not be sitting down at the same table again anytime soon.
