Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) has been a thorn in Joe Biden’s side from day one.
He has caused Biden some heartache, even though he keeps folding after applying pressure.
Well, Manchin is doing it again, refusing to outright endorse Biden for 2024.
When asked if he would support another Biden run, Manchin took a “let’s wait and see” attitude.
Not Quite Yet
Manchin was not even giving Biden the nod if he is the nominee going head-to-head with a Republican.
When put on the spot to back Biden in 2024, the West Virginia Democrat stated, “If Joe Biden runs again — if he’s the Democrat nominee — depending on who the Republican nominee is, we’ll just have to wait and see.”
I wish I could say I was surprised by this, but I am not.
Biden has openly called out Manchin and hit him pretty hard during the first 18 months
Manchin continued, “I’m not predicting anything or how I’ll support or not support […] but I can tell you this. Whoever the elected president is — Democrat, Republican, independent — everyone should pray they succeed.
“I’m gonna do everything I can to make that person successful.”
Now on his comeback trail working for NewsNation, Chris Cuomo was clearly surprised, responding that it is rare for a sitting Democrat Senator not to endorse his party’s candidate that was already in office.
Manchin responded, “I don’t know what to tell you on that. I’m just, I’m always for the right person when they’re running. […] Joe Biden is a good person with a good heart who wants to do the right thing.”
Translation: I am not willing to hang my hat on Joe Biden because he is destroying this country right now.
Don’t expect things to get rosy between Manchin and Biden anytime soon, even though Manchin just caved on a huge piece of legislation allowing Biden to open the checkbook.
