I have always had mixed feelings about Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX).
Due to his military service, I have always given him the benefit of the doubt.
However, there were several red flags for me.
A new one has surfaced that could be the final flag to put him on the list of Swamp members that need to go.
The Machine
Rep. Crenshaw was reportedly using a company called Pink Cilantro for branding.
This is a boutique branding agency that is based in Houston, TX.
That being Crenshaw’s home district, his using a local agency is not the upsetting part.
What is upsetting is the fact the agency has paid Crenshaw’s wife $60,000 since the congressman has been doing business with them.
Overall, the company has been paid $350,000 by Crenshaw.
A Crenshaw spokesperson stated, “Tara works for the digital marketing firm Pink Cilantro, which has been compensated by the campaign for services rendered in full compliance with all applicable rules.”
When the owner of the agency, Basya Benshushan, was asked specifically how much Mrs. Crenshaw was paid, Benshushan replied, “She didn’t have a regular monthly salary because she was paid based on the volume of sales.
“So I will need my accountant to look back at her 1099 to confirm the exact numbers. I sent him a note and he has yet to respond.
“Everything that Tara was paid was derived from book sales.
“Her role as a contractor was distribution and marketing for the book.
“We have 12 employees, all are full-time w4 and w9.”
Noted anti-Trump Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) is also using the agency, which should be a warning sign for anyone.
This is all about optics and making sure politicians break off some cash to family members.
How qualified the agency is or is not is irrelevant because it looks like one hand washing the other.
I would also note that if you look up Crenshaw’s stock trading history, he is even more successful than Paul Pelosi, and he has significantly increased his net worth since taking office.
