The violence in Chicago continues to rage out of control.
This weekend, it claimed another child.
A 3-year-old boy was shot dead after his mother got into an argument with someone on the road.
Road Rage Gone Wrong
The boy’s name is Mateo Zastro.
He was in the back seat of his mother’s car after a trip to the mall.
The amazing aspect of the story is that were other children in the car at the time of the attack and nothing happened to them.
Reports stated that the mother had an argument with another driver, and things quickly turned sideways.
She attempted to drive away from the other driver, but he eventually caught up to her.
When he did, he opened fire on the car with the children in the back seat.
Mateo was shot in the head during the exchange.
He was transported to a local Children’s Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
District Commander Bryan Spreyne stated, “Our vow to the child’s family and to the entire city is we will not rest until those responsible for this senseless and cowardly act of violence are brought to justice.
“To those responsible for taking this precious child’s life: Do the right thing, the honorable thing, and turn yourselves in.”
I am not sure how we ever got to a point in society where opening fire on a car full of kids is okay.
We can only hope the police track down this monster and hold him accountable for his actions.
