That dominating House advantage that the GOP was supposed to have is slowly but surely disappearing.

Believe it or not, the Democrats actually have a path to holding the majority at this point.

In a best-case/worst-case scenario, Democrats could still hold a 219-216 advantage.

Big Swings

The headline readers are killing the GOP right now.

With the media touting big legislative wins for Joe Biden and not holding them accountable for the Inflation Reduction Act, voters are starting to drink the Kool-Aid.

We had been hoping for at least a 24-36 seat advantage in the House.

Realistically, that is now down to about a dozen seats.

Unfortunately, there are still enough seats up for grabs that could lead to a Democrat majority.

The latest Fox News power rankings estimates there are 30 seats up for grabs that could go either way, although the majority of those are still leaning toward Republicans.

For Democrats to maintain the majority, they would have to win every one of those seats.

If Republicans win every one of those seats, they would hold a commanding lead in the House, with more than 240 seats.

As Fox News currently sees it, there are 216 seats locked for the Republicans and 189 locked in for Democrats, with 30 seats up for grabs, and 218 needed for the majority.

Why Is This Happening?

To put it simply… stupidity.

For instance, on the same day the inflation report hit, Senator Graham (R-S.C.) introduced his abortion restriction legislation.

There simply was no need and rather than allowing the inflation news cycle to play out, he gave Biden an out and Democrats were barely dinged for the horrific inflation report.

These are unforced errors that Republicans keep making that is hurting them in the election cycle.

There are still seven weeks to go before election day, and we will still have two inflation reports that hit before then.

If Republicans can avoid mistakes, we can still get that big edge back, but they seem intent on sabotaging the election.

A lot also depends on how well Trump’s candidates do in battleground states.

Rest assured, Trump’s amazing endorsement record is going to take a big hit in the general election, but how his candidates do will give us a far better idea of where we stand with Trump as the GOP nominee in the general election.

If his candidates take a beating in this cycle, he would be well advised to step aside and hand the torch over to Ron DeSantis.
