One of the biggest names in country music is no longer with us.

Loretta Lynn, a woman who has won just about every honor in the industry, passed away on Tuesday morning.

She was 90 years old.

Gone But Not Forgotten

Lynn passed away at home.

Her family announced, “Our precious mom, Loretta Lynn, passed away peacefully this morning, October 4th, in her sleep at home in her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills.”

Inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1988, Lynn had a trophy room that was packed to the ceiling.

This was a fearless woman who wrote about things women were not supposed to write about when she was coming up in the industry.

Songs like “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” “You Ain’t Woman Enough,” “The Pill,” “Don’t Come Home a Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ on Your Mind),” “Rated X” and “You’re Looking at Country,” talked about sex, marriage, love, and, of course, drinkin’.

Regarding her music, Lynn stated, “I could see that other women was goin’ through the same thing, ’cause I worked the clubs.

“I wasn’t the only one that was livin’ that life and I’m not the only one that’s gonna be livin’ today what I’m writin.'”

Lynn was already a superstar in the industry, but she reached a much wider audience after Sissy Spacek played her in “Coal Miner’s Daughter.”

Lynn was married to Oliver Lynn for nearly five decades when he passed in 1996.

She had six children, 17 grandchildren, and four step-grandchildren.

It is safe to say that her legacy will not be forgotten.
