I do not get upset very often when a Hollywood star dies, but this one caught me completely off guard.
One of my all-time favorite actors is dead.
James Caan has passed away at the age of 82.
A True Legend
Most people know James Caan from “The Godfather,” but that was far from my favorite film by this legend.
When I think of James Caan, I think of “The Gambler,” “Roller Ball,” “Brian’s Song,” “Misery” and “For the Boys.”
There are, of course, countless war and cop movies that he made (on both sides of the law) that were just as memorable.
Amazingly, he never won an Oscar, only having been nominated one time in his entire career for “The Godfather.”
This is a man that started acting in 1961 and worked virtually through the day he passed away.
In fact, he has one more project in post-production (“Fast Charlie”) that is scheduled for a 2023 release as well as two other movies that were recently announced.
All we know at this point is that Caan died on the evening of July 6, with his family asking for privacy during this time.
No cause of death has been revealed yet.
